'Bricks in the Rain' is a multi-media exhibition of ceramic sculpture, video art, sound sculpture, and text. It will open at the Farmleigh Gallery, Phoenix Park on 16th August 2012 and will then go on tour nationwide.
It will show completely new objects, made here in Ireland by a group of renowned ceramic artists who went to China in 2011 on a five-week residency.
The title 'Bricks in the Rain' derives from a photograph taken by resident photographer Andrew Standen-Raz of bricks used to step through puddles outside the Chinese factory buildings where it rained incessantly for days at the start of the residency.
The new objects will respond to and reflect the residency that took place in China. The exhibiting artists participated in this project, during which they worked in a Chinese brick factory to create the core collection of the Irish Pavilion at the Fule International Ceramic Art Museum (FLICAM) as seen in photographs posted on this page entitled 'Exhibition in China'
